OEC's 2006 Forum for Ag & the Environment

Greetings!

As the economic, social and environmental price of
petroleum dependence goes up and up, biobased
alternatives for fuel and products are moving center
stage in the marketplace. With purchasing
preferences for biofuels and other biobased products
surfacing at state and federal levels, agricultural
producers may have opportunities to benefit
financially.

Sustainable Agriculture as an Engine of Economic Development

The past few years have seen an exploding interest
in the economic development opportunities offered
by “sustainable” agriculture. Several new efforts are
seeking to analyze the current scope and future
potential of this segment of the agricultural industry,
and to identify ways to help it grow. We will hear
from Jennifer Allen of Portland State University, who
is completing one such analysis with funding from the
Kellogg Foundation, as well as other economic
experts and producers. Join us in Portland in June
(details TBA)
